Group says "au revoir" to their Chief
Ollie Thinking?

The families and friends who attended Family Camp said a heart-felt "thank you" and goodbye to Ollie Milverton ("Chief") who is leaving our Group after four years with the Scout Troop.

Ollie joined us while studying at Reading University and stayed on when he got a job locally. Together with Skip and the rest of the Scout Leadership team, Ollie has been responsible for providing an adventurous, exciting, challenging programme which has generated a massive increase in member numbers and has produced oustandingly "scouty" Scouts.

Ollie is returning to his native Devon to train to become a Maths Teacher and will be taking the role of Scout Leader in his old Scout Group.

Their gain is our loss and he will be greatly missed by all of us.

Last year our Beavers, Cubs and Scouts hiked, camped, climbed, abseiled, kayaked, raced dragon boats, cycled, built fires, played games, shined shoes, played music and sang, did orienteering, pioneering, archery, wide games, sports, athletics, lots of good turns, scientific experiments, gardening, forestry, falconry, arts and crafts, backwoods cooking, knotting and lashing, used maps and compasses, took part in parades, quizzes, RESCUE and a swimming gala, made model aeroplanes, steam boats, turbines, survival shelters, hats, collages and cakes, visited Brownsea Island, The Discovery Centre, a farm, air museums, an apiary, a lifeboat station and the Coastguard, celebrated St George's Day, May Day, Chinese New Year and Christmas, learned about first aid, astronomy, safety in the home, survival skills, leadership and lots about themselves, had sleepovers and parties, met Father Christmas, gained hundreds of badges and made lots of friends.

This year we'll also try something new!
