About Active Kids

Sainsbury’s Active Kids launched in 2005, in the face of the continued national debate surrounding childhood obesity and the Government push to increase physical activity among children of school age.

At the heart of the campaign is the aim to support schools, scout and guide groups in the effort to inspire young people to be more active.
With this in mind, the campaign places a huge emphasis on encouraging children of all ages and abilities to get active in the form of free inspirational equipment, kit and experiences.

Scouting joined the scheme in their Centenary Year - 2007

Some 3,345 Scout Groups and Sections registered to participate in Sainsbury's Active Kids 2007 scheme, receiving free resources and all the information needed to collect vouchers for equipment. During the summer, an amazing £320,000 worth of equipment was assembled by Active Kids and sent to the 1,600 Groups that placed an order. The average Group received about £200 worth of equipment.

The 52nd Reading participated in 2007, 2008 and 2009

Last year you collected 1981 vouchers and with them we were able to order the huge box of savoury & sweet biscuit cooking equipment with enough left over to get sets of skipping ropes and foam fliers.

How does the campaign work?

All you have to do is collect vouchers that you can then redeem against the equipment and resources in the Active Kids catalogue. You earn one Active Kids voucher for every £10 spent at any main Sainsbury’s store, including groceries online at www.sainsburys.co.uk or at Sainsbury’s petrol stations.

Please collect your vouchers for the 52nd Scouts, ask other members of your family, friends or maybe ask work colleagues and put a poster up at work - copy available from: beavers@52ndreadingscoutgroup.org.uk
