Beaver Scout Awards and Badges

Beaver Scouts have the opportunity to gain awards and badges by completing a wide range of activities and challenges and in recognition of their commitment, effort and achievements.

Activity badges

Many of the badges available are activity badges, which allow Beaver Scouts to show their progress in existing pursuits, but also to try all kinds of new things and form new interests. There is a wide range of staged activity badges which span the sections (with only the highest of each badge worn on the uniform at any time).

Challenge awards

Gaining a challenge badge involves accomplishing a number of more ambitious tasks within the Colony or community. There are several challenge badges across a number of themes, from the physical and outdoorsy to challenges dealing with the local community or issues connected with the Scouting world.

Joining-In Awards

These badges are awarded to celebrate the anniversary of a young person's initial commitment to Scouting and for taking an active part in the programme.

52nd Reading Beavers Millennium Trophy

In the year 2000 we introduced the 52nd Reading Beaver Millennium Trophy to our group. The trophy is awarded at the end of each term to the Beaver that is felt to have achieved and improved the most, who has worked hard and behaved well and courteously to others.

52nd Reading Lodge Award

At the end of every term a Lodge Badge is awarded to the one of the lodges. During the term we award points to the lodge for working well together, collecting and achieving points for the lodge or individual beavers for good behaviour, making an effort and joining in (and not loosing too many along the way).

If you click on the title link of this paragraph it will show you the lodge who won their badge last term .
